Betsaida López and ME ENCANTA OAXACA are the predecessors to FAMILIA LU'LA'.
Me Encanta Oaxaca began 8 years ago with simply desire from our founder Betsaida López Díaz, she wanted to share the wonders of Oaxaca with the world.
Over the years, Me Encanta Oaxaca has matured. It has weathered ups and downs, stumbling blocks, and painful situations—challenges that have strengthened the organization, much like a bamboo stalk growing strong at its roots. During this time, Betsaida also became a single mother, raising and supporting her youngest son—who was seven years old at the time—on her own. Being an empowered female entrepreneur with an academic background and a single mother was no easy task. Yet, as time went on, she recognized the needs of other women and families in various communities. A strong desire arose within her to support those who wanted to get ahead but didn't know how—and that is how Familia Lu'la' was born!
Betsaida López firmly believes that by building community, we can go far and help each other achieve a better way of life.
Lu'la' comes from the Zapotec language of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec—Betsaida López’s hometown region—and it means "Oaxaca."

Me Encanta Oaxaca comenzó hace 8 años con el simple deseo de nuestra fundadora Betsaida López Díaz de compartir las maravillas de Oaxaca con el mundo.
A lo largo de los años, Me Encanta Oaxaca ha madurado. Ha superado altibajos, obstáculos y situaciones difíciles que han fortalecido a la organización, como el bambú que fortalece sus raíces. Durante este tiempo, Betsaida también se convirtió en madre soltera, criando y manteniendo por sí sola a su hijo menor, que en ese momento tenía siete años. Ser una mujer empresaria empoderada con formación académica y madre soltera no fue tarea fácil. Sin embargo, con el tiempo, reconoció las necesidades de otras mujeres y familias en diversas comunidades. Surgió en ella un fuerte deseo de apoyar a quienes querían salir adelante pero no sabían cómo: ¡y así nació Familia Lu'la'!
Betsaida López cree firmemente que creando comunidad podemos llegar lejos y ayudarnos mutuamente a lograr una mejor calidad de vida.
Lu'la' proviene de la lengua Zapoteca del Istmo de Tehuantepec, la región natal de Betsaida López, y significa "Oaxaca".

First and foremost, our mission is to support local consumption and be as both ambassadors and guardians of our cultural wealth, while consistently promoting responsible tourism through various direct and indirect avenues.
En primer lugar, nuestra misión es apoyar el consumo local y ser tanto embajadoras como guardianas de nuestra riqueza cultural, promoviendo constantemente el turismo responsable a través de diversas vías directas e indirectas.

Our vision is to establish ourselves as a high-quality hospitality company led by women in Oaxaca and to forge partnerships with other businesses, organizations, and communities—both within and beyond the region—to drive sustainability on a larger scale, with the ultimate goal of helping children with cancer by dedicating a percentage of our sales to the cause.
Nuestra visión es consolidarnos como una empresa de referencia en México liderada por mujeres en Oaxaca y forjar alianzas con otras empresas, organizaciones y comunidades —tanto dentro como fuera de la región— para impulsar la sostenibilidad a mayor escala, con la meta final de ayudar a niños con cáncer dedicando un porcentaje de nuestras ventas a la causa.
